“The Armenian authorities should demand that Russia terminates the agreements on weapons and military equipment sale to Azerbaijan and stops the supply of weapons to Azerbaijan” – said the leader of Free Democrats party, Khachatur Kokobelyan on April 6, during his speech at the National Assembly.
“Dear Colleagues,
During the last few days, Azerbaijan’s obvious and unleashed military actions against Nagorno Karabakh and their use of exclusively aggressive type of military equipment produced by Russia showed that the regular supply by Russia of weapons and military equipment to Azerbaijan is not a matter of business as they describe it; rather it is a real threat to Nagorno Karabakh and Armenia’s security. It became clear that by selling weapons Russia breaks the balance of forces in the region that undermines the process of peaceful resolution of the conflict.
I urge the Armenian authorities as well the political forces to take the necessary steps and demand that our strategic partner Russia, the member of CSTO and EAEU as well as the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair country adheres to its obligations, particularly, undertaken in the Agreement of Collective Security Treaty Organization (Article 1), the Agreement of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance (Article 3) signed between Russia and Armenia in 1997, and the obligations that Russia assumed in OSCE Minsk Group, and, therefore, demand that Russia terminates the agreements on weapons and military equipment sale to Azerbaijan and stops their supply to Azerbaijan.
